I had a pony have a brush with tetanus so it’s always on my mind, along with the 1001 other things that can go sideways with the beasts.

Wow, that’s crazy. Without having the accidental piercing, you’d have thought that was a pretty healthy foot from the photo. Hope he’s feeling better soon!
I did think I was just picking out some icky stuff. He has a swampy spot on his paddock that’s pretty icky. It was a heck of a surprise when it started bleeding! His other hind foot is perfectly clean and dry. He has pads on the front so they get treated when he’s shod.

Honestly, my TB’s sole looked a lot worse.
I could see the fleshy structures that are under the horny part of the frog.
We never went to the hospital plate & as I said, he was back to full use after the glue-ons came off. Barefoot before & after.
Adding more Jingles for your process to not take as long as mine
