LGCT posted a short clip of the horses unloading in Monaco. But there’s a pony!
Who is riding this pony??
Is it not a pony and the man is just very very tall?
You’ve got to wait for the pics to upload completely before posting your reply. It’ll change from that “Uploading…” verbiage to something that looks more like this, with the exclamation point followed by the image name , size, etc: "![IMG-2434 … "
Ugh, I swear I get worse at the internet every day.
The class heights start at .70m so it could very well be a pony.
I’m sorry WHAT. You mean I could be competing at Monaco right now.
Quick someone give me 15k to fly my horse to Monaco.
Seriously?!?
Does anyone know if the New York leg is offering lower heights?
It’s 90F in Monaco this week. You don’t want to be there showing.
To be clear, cost of entry if you are outside the top 30 in the world is most likely a table in VIP… and that will run you a small fortune not to mention entry fees for the horse.
I think when I read the prize list for the one in Miami some years back, I believe the VIP table was something like $6000.
I almost think you could enter two horses for that price, though. But I won’t swear to that part.
I knew they had classes with lower jumps at those shows. But I did not realize that they started at .70.
It is indeed a pony entered for one of the children’s classes
Not eager to reveal how stupid I am, but isn’t the FEI the European AA or national or whatever showing level? If that’s the big time there, similar to our big shows, it makes sense that there would be lower level divisions just as WEF has baby green and .6 jumpers etc. Right?
The LGCT shows are sort of their own little category of boutique events, usually held at extremely picturesque and high profile locations, generally with a pretty big VIP component to the set up.
I think there is usually just one ring, and usually with something fantastic in the background for your show pictures, like the Statue of Liberty or the Eiffel Tower or what have you.
So they’re not quite the same as the huge shows with tons of rings and divisions like WEF in that way.
No not at all. FEI is the international organization like FIFA for soccer. They are running some national level classes at the same event but they aren’t under FEI auspices, no FEI stabling etc.
I’m under the impression that fei is quite high level, so while there are more fei classes in Europe, the general population can’t ride in them. Take the pony jumpers for example- there’s a very robust pony jumper culture in Europe, because there’s no hunters obviously, but only the highest level ponies do fei stuff which is 130 cm- in national level, I think larges jump 110 cm maybe.
Just Google FEI, seriously it’s quite clear what they have jurisdiction over if you look it up.
tables are 10-20k usually, not that different from the Hamptons and some of the larger US shows, at least back when I did them (a while ago now).
You don’t need a table to show at the Hamptons though. That’s the distinction.
FEI pony jumpers are clearly a bigger deal in the EU . Found this on the FEI YT feed
