We got some requests for a spring CotH hunt and have narrowed it down to – very likely – the March 14-17 weekend.
Hacking and parties and lessons and kennel visits and all sorts of fun stuff on Thursday and Friday, hunting with the Old Dominion Hounds on Saturday morning, then the Warrenton Hunt Point to Point Saturday afternoon. Probably another dinner party Saturday night, then hack Sunday morning and foot-hunting with the Ashland Bassets Sunday afternoon.
Newbies – especially – are warmly encouraged to join the fun. WateryGlen will take a car-topping group for those interested in trying it on for size without the added distraction of a horse. She is a foxhunting expert, knows the territory, the sport and the players, and gives superb instruction and commentary while ferrying you around the countryside.

HR, thank you for organizing this and thank you again for talking with me on Saturday. I’m so excited to have something fun to look forward to after this dreary winter weather we’ve been having!
That is the same weekend as the all Thoroughbred Celebration in Lexington, VA. I am not sure how many folks will be affected.

I plan to ride that day but…it’s also a joint meet with the Blue Ridge Hunt coming so will possibly be a BIG crowd. Just so ya know!!

The meet is not at my house (Leeds Manor Farm in Hume) so I will be self-limited by who can fit in my trailer.
The dates are set - 3/14-3/17, and the schedule will be:
Arrive Thurs after lunch; ride that afternoon. Maybe a potluck supper here.
Friday lesson, kennel visit and shopping etc. Dinner party here, probably.
Sat. hunt then races. Sat. night dinner out (or vice versa with Friday.)
Sun. hack then basset hunting early afternoon.
I am in. I know I’m belatedly replying but I had to talk to Mr OGP and our schedules for financial-planning were just not meshing!
The fat-man will not be ready this spring as we’ve been so icy. But I would be overjoyed to ride and just to be with you fine folks! HR, I will send you an email!!

I’ll just pop in to say they are all having an absolute blast. Kennel visits, tailgates, hunting, more hunting, point to point race, dinner, and lots of laughing and fun.
I’m pretty sure I saw the Coth Hunters dancing the Harlem Shake in a tailgate flash mob that occurred this afternoon at the Warrenton Hunt Point to Point Races. Uhhhhhh!! I’m speechless…totally speechless!!! And they all had hats on…ummmmmm…one was a chicken feathered fascinator hat…ummmmm…speechless I am…shocking behavior ladies! Simply shocking! See us (I mean them) on You Tube…really.
By the end of the races; they could hardly stand up due to extreme fatigue after a super morning hunting. We’d gotten at least 2 braces up and it was a race all morning too.
And THANK GOD the weather held for them/us!! The rain was always 5 miles away but it never rains on the hunting princesses!! yeeee hawwww!!!
