Cottonpickinwabbit and a Southern Pines HT recap

Not to distract from the seriousness of other current issues, but I wanted to share my excitement with how fantastic Cotton was at SP!

After having some over-stimulation issues at his first USEA down at Full Gallop, he came out to the 6 ring mega show that is Southern Pines like an old pro. He scored a 24.8 in dressage and we finished on that score to come in 3rd out of 22 in the OBN.

He’s getting so grown up! The biggest hurdle in the flatwork remains the steadiness in the bridle and being able to add more energy without throwing off the balance. It’s a bit of a fine line (like most). I could tell he was really thinking some silly thoughts during parts of the test but he never abandoned ship and he stayed connected. Well up until AFTER the salute when he let it all out

Here is a little montage with clips of all 3 phases put together:

He makes the move to Novice next week at the Running Start schooling HT.

AND we got to meet and hang out with fellow COTHer KCarp and her gorgeous Prelim mare Khalesi. She is just about the nicest, funniest person ever and a really lovely rider!

Big thanks to the folks at CHP, they did a swell job keeping things on time and running a fantastic show

You know, ACME, instead of going to CHP, you could have come out to Carthage in the dark and joined the search party for my missing gelding.

But, even so, I do applaud your progress with Cotton. Well done!

Cotton was amazing!!! He is ready for his big move up this weekend for sure.

It was wonderful to meet you and see your lovely farm, and I am so grateful for your generosity (read: food, wine, shower facilities, and jump setting skills).

Hope to see you again next week when I roll into town for the CIC*, this time with my gasp husband in to groom over the weekend (read: drink beer, wander around, fill up the water buckets). I will text and perhaps we can meet up again and I can hear about Cotton’s next adventure!

So impressed. You both look MAHvelous!

Wow! Congratulations. I enjoy reading all the stories and remember some of the disastrous adventures he had. So happy for you that he is healthy and sound and appears to love his job!

Exciting!

Congrats to you & Cotton! He does look like he came to play!

I just love following the adventures of Cotton. He’s definitely got a self-awareness to go with his personality! Plus, I’ve just noticed his body color is almost the same as my horse …

Love Wabbit updates and he looks fabulous.

Wasn’t there also a Wascally Wabbit at this event?

I think there was a Wascally Wabbit, I recall being very offended

Thanks for all the kind words, I’m a firm believer that the Power Of The Jingle is what brought him out of the depths of euthanasia to begin with.

Sorry, JER, incredibly insensitive of me to forego looking for your content, grazing gelding . . . It will NEVER happen again. No, my fingers were NOT crossed behind my back.

I will post an update after his move-up this weekend (barring a weather cancellation, of course). Very excited to volunteer for the CIC the following weekend and equally excited to drink beer with KCarp!

Best news ever and well deserved! So excited for both of you - and can’t wait to hear about the move up!!!

I am so in love with him. His spirit. His determination. What a special guy.

He is being joined by another former 3PB alumni n a red head…she may steal his heart…

He looks amazing! Great job.

Coming from my untrained eye, you had some really lovely moments in dressage - super nice! But, I really had to comment here to say how it made my heart smile to hear his name announced overhead. What a GREAT name!

You both look GREAT!!! You both can already do a better dressage test than any of mine…hmmm, could be me that is the problem

Have fun at novice…I predict he will find it fun and easy!

How did it go? Mine was PERFECT, but I jumped the wrong 9. TE, taking the ribbon right out of my own hands AGAIN. But he was so brave and jumped All The Things, and was ready for more at the finish! So pleased! LLP entry went on its way when I got home.

Hi! It went really, really well. We had a nice dressage test (1st time in a covered), but he was quite sassy in stadium. Unfortunately we pulled two rails which dropped us out of any placing but then he went on to kick butt on his first Novice XC course. Mari’s courses are fun, but definitely on the beefy side.

I’m really proud of him and LLP entry will go in tonight!

Sorry about the TE. I have that t-shirt as well.

So glad to hear Cotton boy doing well! I do like Mari’s XC courses a LOT!

That Wabbit sure is a handsome fella! Read the thread of despair-- and now to this! Well done OP!

and I need knew you back when…

I have a hunch that the ACME & Wabbit are going on to do great things!!!
