Cougar RID

He is a Cruising son, 1996, Bay, 1.70m (16.3 hh) | Irish Sport Horse Stallion Any information to share? He is from another era regarding technology and do not see a thing about him on youtube, so I thought I would ask the the Forum Gurus. lol

I find him rather impressive. I believe he is still available through frozen at Shelbourne Farms, NC… Has anyone used him on their mares, or had any offspring? Success rate with his frozen?

Comments welcomed and appreciated.

I will be watching this thread, I really like the looks of Cougar but like you I can’t find much info on him.

Lovely horse, I have liked him for years.
Here is some info from a FB page

One of my clients bred her Cougar mare to A Fine Romance and had an outstanding foal, now 2. They are very pleased with this baby.

OP, just a thought to correct your subject line since Cougar is not an RID?

If we are talking about the same stallion, who is an ISH, he has a son in the Goresbridge Go for Gold sale this year that looks green but, I think, very nice. Here is his listing and video.

In Ireland he was known for breeding slightly hotter types. Could be quirky but no badness. Definitely not deadheats. Very athletic. Really nice looking horse. I liked the progeny I saw by him in Ireland years ago.

Ish cougar is awesome. We have a 2015 filly by him, most people oriented foal I’ve ever seen. Farm fav. Have seen his young horses - excellent.

According to my 2013 Irish Horse Register, Cougar was approved ISH in 2001, damsire is Bahrain (TB) who was a pretty good sire himself, the dam is approved ISH but she is actually a full TB. Bay horse, height 168.5 cm, girth 189.0 cm, bone 21.5 cm. He has no ‘star rating’ for his own performance but his progeny have 1* for show jumping and 2* for eventing (out of a possible 3*) with 6 offspring gaining points as international performers. In 2013 he had 221 registered foals (112 colts, 109 fillies).
