My imagined response to that by R-A R: :uhoh::dead::rolleyes:

Respectfully submitted,

Yr disobd’t srvt,
rivenoak

I want pictures. Lots of 'em. Foxhounds and beagles – goliaths and peewees – what a fun day that will be. The music should be fabulous!!

Can’t wait for the recap.

Two different days - Goliaths on Saturday, peewees on Sunday.

At least, that’s my understanding.

Then again, you can see how clear my thought process was last Friday, so what do I know?

What rivenoak omitted was the part where she reassured me by saying, ā€œOh, well, you’ll be fine. We’ll mostly be standing around on the ridges watching them [the foxhounds] run on Saturday.ā€

And then on Sunday, while she & LisaW-B and I were hanging out, waiting for the field to turn around and come back to us (which they never did, so eventually we clued in and went after them) I realized she was talking excitedly to LisaW-B about how much fun she & Prozac Pony were going to have GALLOPING WITH THE FOXHOUNDS DOWN IN SONOITA.:eek::eek::eek::eek:

EXCUSE ME???

What happened to ā€œstanding around on the ridgesā€?

You know, you’d think by now I would have learned.

rivenoak
Do. Not. Trust.

Although, as she is quick to point out, she hasn’t gotten me hurt yet <knock wood>.

Just lost in the forest up in Flagstaff.

Semi-stranded on rocky slopes here in Phoenix.

I’m sure there are other escapades I have blocked from my mind.

But she has broadened my horizons, I will give her that. And last Sunday, instead of trudging around a dressage warmup ring, we were out in the desert riding in the sunshine.

I guess that makes up for getting lost in the forest now and then.

Oooo - it sounds like you two have fabulous adventures and get into lots of trouble! What fun!

Hey, I offered to put you on a lead line so you could gallop in the field, too.

I’ll try to post a link sometime of some pix from joint meets past when we’ve had foxhounds, harriers, and beagles all hunting together on the same day. Talk about music! And a wild time…:winkgrin:

JSwan, you must come hunt with us; I can nearly assure SOME kind of adventure. I’m the type to usually be found in the vicinity of moonshine, absinthe, no direction home, lightning strikes, bellydancing, dirty worded skits, etc.

Ok - count me in. We’ll get RAR galloping in no time - I’ll bring my cattle prod.

Maybe Rivenoak should couple R-A-R’s horse to hers. Heh, heh, heh.

Hey, what are friend for anyway

I hunted Bassets and Beagles together Sunday. Two packs, two huntsman, joint meet. It was fun and no problem at all.

Oh, yes - the lightning strikes…

While we were at breakfast, I heard about the time our hunt was down in Sonoita and a nasty thunderstorm rolled in, catching some of the riders high on a ridge (that would presumably be one of those ridges from which rivenoak and I were supposed to be watching the foxhounds run on Saturday - at the same time she & Prozac Pony would be madly galloping after the foxhounds).

That sounded like ever so much fun.

Being ponied off Prozac Pony… now, there’s a thought. Perhaps we should try that some day. As long as Mr. Blondie kept slightly to the rear, PP wouldn’t object.

An even better idea - how about if rivenoak ponies Mr. Blondie off PP while I stay back at the trailers reading a nice book?

Camstock…the thought had occurred to me, as well.

Could solve the problems of PP putting his head up, the Blonde One getting his head down, and R-A R galloping all in one fell swoop.

Or

It could be an Unmitigated Disaster.

Or both at the same time, depending on which party you are.

I think they would cancel each other out… and the horses would actually be balanced.

Now - what you need to do is market such a rollkur cancelling coupling mechanism, make up a mystical Indian name, and go on the road with your new NH dressage invention. Bring a tipi.

Okay, Girls, YOUR hunt sounds like MY kinda hunt! So wish I could see up close and personal.

Just what is in your flask?? Moonshine??? We are having our annual meeting tomorrow, and I may just need some of that!

Annikak,

Come on out sometime & hunt with us!

Risk-Averse Rider is also Booze-Averse Rider, so her ā€œflaskā€ contains water.

When toting a flask (I’ve been mooching this year), I tend to have something creamy: Baileys, caramel goo, whatever.

However, I did have a little peach flavored 'shine from someone in the Carolinas a few years ago…YUMMY!!! Whooohooo, they don’t call that stuff White Lightning for nothing.

With whom do you hunt? You can PM, if you want.
