Courbette "The Combination"

I was hoping that my Morgan, Stella was going to be a saddle seat horse, but she just doesn’t have the neck for it, so we will be doing Hunter Seat Pleasure.

The issue is I’m 5’6" with a 31" inseam and I’m 18.5" from hip to knee. So, in most 18" saddles to get my knee into the knee roll, my butt is right at the edge of the cantle or past it… Dressage saddles fit wonderfully because of the longer straighter flap, but obviously we can’t use that to show.

I discovered “The Combination” by Courbette which looks to be a real combination of a dressage saddle and hunt saddle, with longer 16" flaps. Has anyone here had experience with that saddle?

I had one and loved it. I found it very comfortable and I am also long in the leg. IIRC they tend to run narrow, so that might be something to consider if your Morgan is wide.

Well, seeing your response had made me feel better about the saddle in general. (The internet is like it never existed)

The seller said that it was model #2 - which was wider? Since the saddle is no longer made and there is no where to try it, I bought it. We will see if it fits my Stella, she has withers, but is somewhat broad. If it doesn’t fit, I’ll resell it.

Short of a custom saddle, which I can’t afford, I’m kind of at a loss.

How did the combination work out for you?? Looking at one to purchase for a schooling saddle
