Mr. PoPo and I went trail riding recently and came upon some cows who graze in the BLM in the summer time. We hung around them for a bit to show Pony that SHE can move THEM (they were on the trail that we were on - we don’t seek out other people’s cows to go work them) and when we got a couple of them to move away from us, we went on with our ride. We rode back to the gate, let ourselves out, and went home.
Later that day, those cows showed up at that gate. The cows never venture to that area (they have thousands of acres to roam). They were there for a couple hours and then left.
Seemingly, they followed us (not directly, but I guess our scent or something) back home. Why would cows do that? I thought it was interesting, but don’t know anything about cow behavior to come up with an understanding of why they’d do that!
Anyone?
