Cow Patties from Misoprostol

Hi!
My horse was just scoped has we found grade 3 squamous ulcers along the lesser curvature and one glandular ulcer in the pylorus. He is currently on one tube of ulcergard and 8 pills Misoprostol twice per day. Today is his third day on it and he had cow patty like manures - Not diarrhea. and I know this med can make them a little crampy. Has anyone else had a similar reaction?

Waiting on a response from my vet, but just wanted to hear some other experiences

My friend’s horse has been on it a few times and almost always gets a lot softer poop. So long as the horse isn’t acting colicky, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Make sure they get enough water, perhaps add probiotics if not already.

Thanks!
Yes he’s on assure guard gold. Thinking about swapping to platinum GI. The hospital vet told me to pick just one supplement

Cytotec is a prostaglandin, and prostaglandins are the reason women get “period poops” while menstruating.
Normal response

My horse has been on misoprostal and gets the soft big poops that I refer to as his “miso poops”

Are you giving UG and miso at same time of day? I participated in a Zoom webinar with Dr. Sykes and he mentioned that giving them together would end up negating the effects of the UG. When my horse was on both for his ulcers (same kinds as you seen on scope) I did UG thirty minutes before breakfast and miso about 12 hours later.

I am giving ulcergard at 6:40 AM first dose of miso at 9:30 am with grain, and again at 9:30 at night.
