Cowgirl boot shop near Houston, TX? Also, Uber/Lyft in Houston?

Looking for suggestions for a good place to get a nice pair of cowgirl boots while I’m in Houston, TX. I’ll be staying at the Marriott Marquis Hotel for work next week. Been really needing a good pair of boots to dance and such in (with heels, pretty but matches a lot - not work boots) and thought it might be fun to bring home something from Texas.

Suggestions?

Also, are there a lot of Uber drivers in Houston? I may not have a rental car, but am super-used to taking Uber and Lyft. Would be a handy way to get to/from a boot store…

Thanks for all your ideas!!!

Can’t answer about boots in Houston but I do know there’s plenty of Uber at least in the downtown area and I suspect from the airport as well.

Lot of cheap western-wear chains in Houston; Cavender’s has a pretty good selection of low to mid-priced boots. Or were you looking for the high-dollar stuff (>$400)? Keep in mind that real cheapo boots will be made in China and you can order them online anywhere and save yourself the trouble of carrying it through airport security ;). Better ones will be made in Mexico (or possibly the USA.) If your heart is set on getting something actually from Texas, you might look at cowboy hats instead (I think the Stetsons were made near Dallas), good sun-protection for hiking.

Small gift-wise, Houston grocery stores will have about 100 brands of delicious salsa. Central Market’s own salsa is pretty good. Also candied pecans, yum.

Many of my coworkers use Uber. There also is a lightrail that goes down Main St and could get you close to Rice Village/Zoo/Science Museum area. Your hotel is close to Phoenicia Market which has a cafe (Middle eastern/Mediterranean food) in the store that could be a good place to get lunch. If you like Vietnamese food, you should be able to find lots of places.

Thanks for the tips! Anyone else want to chime in. I appreciate the ideas

I bought my Ariat cowboy boots at Cavender’s. They have a very good selection.

The Houston Museum of Natural Science has a really good gift store and is worth a visit. They have an indoor butterfly pyramid and a fantastic paleontology wing.

If you like hot dogs you must try Moon Tower Inn.

You’re also close to the downtown Spec’s, which is a huge liquor store. They also have a really good deli.

Unfortunately downtown is not the best area for restaurants in Houston. Not to say there aren’t any, but you get a much better selection in other areas. Tons of lunch places of course but not as much for dinner unless you want a Steakhouse or lounge food.

If you’re here this Friday night and you like pinball or arcade games, this place is amazing. It’s about 1/2 mile from your hotel, right by Minute Maid Park.
