I have read the eventing tack rules for dressage, and have studied the permitted noseband drawings in Appendix 4, but I cannot tell if crank cavessons are permitted. Can someone please educate me?
THey are, or at least, I compete with one on my dressage bridle (not cranked super tight but still) and have never been called on it, and I know plenty of others that do so too.
Yes, they are legal, but I think if you go to a straight dressage show they are allowed to check how tight it is and tell you to loosen it if you have it so tight there is no option for movement of your horse’s jaw.
I actually like the construction because they are padded and don’t droop - I have one that came as part of a gorgeous bridle.
