Creator retired and sold

Really? Horse wins the Belmont but has less than stellar results in next races. Is retired and sold to stud in japan because the deal was too good not to pass up. I applaud the Japanese for finding a Tapit son they liked and pouncing on him but really?

I hate that he’s leaving the US… sure loved his paper!

He’s a two time G1 winner and a classic winner. He has a more impressive resume than many who retire to stud.

I agree there but would’ve liked to see more from him than what hes done so far. I bet the Japanese forked over a heavy sum of change which is the only reason he’s gone. Although I do think he has more prospect as a stallion than Winstar’s current Tapit stallion

I hope he doesn’t end up like Ferdinand did in Japan.

He made me a tidy sum in the Belmont. I’ve always liked him, he got such a bad trip in the KY Derby.

And plenty of other stallions who have retired and lived the life of luxury or returned to the states. Such as War Emblem and Silver Charm.

IMO the Japanese appear to be fairly diligent in at least wanting to return the “nicer” stallions back to the US. I don’t know if they buy many lower end stallions or not. With limited land resources, seems like they’d be more inclined to try for the top end…?

He’s going to get a much better shot at stud in Japan than he would have gotten here.

It is my understanding just about of the purchase contracts these days contain a clause that stipulates when the horse is retired it will be returned to the seller/s. The cost maybe on the sellers or the buyer. The sellers generally include a right of first refusal if the horse should come on the market again.

I suppose one could call this the “Ferdinand clause”. So, in the end his unfortunate death brought about change for the well being of others.

The shame of this is that BC fans and viewers will probably not see any of the TC classic winners compete. Nyquist is unlikely. Comments from Exxagerator connections make him unlikely. And now, Creator is headed to Japan. Don’t recall colt eclipse being so hard to guage, but I am also having trouble recalling if I ever had a memory.

Nyquist isn’t unlikely. He’s going to the Classic as long as nothing goes wrong. http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/215626/nyquist-shooting-for-breeders-cup-classic

I hadn’t seen this. Interesting. His performance in PA Derby is a true indicator of the direction he is headed. Off the board. Too short a period of time for Nyquist to rebound physically and mentally. Reddam is dreaming. Should send Nyquist to Baffert or Chad Brown if racing in 2017.

One race does not, IMO, provide a solid indication of future performance.

Do I think I would put Nyquist in the Classic, probably not. But I won’t write him off just yet

I’d be extremely surprised if Nyquist races next year.

gotpaints, I’d agree with that…

I wouldn’t write him off but I’m also not holding my breath either
