So sad to hear about the loss of Richard Spooner’s Cristallo. He was an exceptionally fun horse to be around on the show circuit, such a kind, quiet horse on the ground, a bit of a monkey on the flat, and an eminently watchable tiger in the ring. And a looker. He put in some trips around the field in Calgary I will never forget. I am glad he had some happy years of retirement with Spooner & family but it is sad they can’t go on forever.

I thought it was interesting how Spooner said they packed their bags and moved to Europe so the horse could have more opportunities to show there.
Remember years ago on the forum some people picking at Spooner’s position over jumps? He is a tall guy and Cristallo was small. Spooner had to get his legs out of the way somehow.
I’m glad Cristallo had a good retirement. It’s sweet that he took Cristallo along to shows just because he liked to go.
Spooner certainly could equitate when he had to. I’ll never forget this (not Cristallo) :
That was very cute.
