Crosby Saddlery returns - sort of - cross posted

So since we are all on “shelter in place” I have been searching for good used dressage saddles for my DD and her young horse. While searching I noticed a brand new Crosby dressage saddle for sale. Say what??? So I did a little research, and it is being produced by the Weatherbeeta Group (eg Wintec, Bates, Collegiate, Arena, and now Crosby). I can only assume they bought the rights to the name.

With that said, the dressage saddles are reasonably priced. The jump saddles are quite expensive imho. For $3500 if you like their products why not just buy a Bates? So I wonder if they are going to try to stay true to the original Crosby styling and quality? They are making a “New” Prix de Nations jump saddle. The jump saddles do look nice.

Some how it just seems wrong tho to “buy” a big name and try to capitalize on the name that was made by others, unless you intend to follow closely in their tradition. Thoughts?

They’ve owned the name for a long time. I want to say since 2003? Weatherbeeta’s group purchased the former Miller’s which I believe held the Crosby name.

I know the company that has the tree pattern for that saddle and is basically the same thing. Much better quality too.
