Has anyone seen or had a test ride on the new brand Crosby saddles?
I have not.
But seeing the name Crosby Saddles made my heart go pitter-patter, I LOVE my old Crosby saddles, if only they would fit today’s horses!
How cool that they are making them again! I hadn’t heard about this. Big nostalgia!
I suspect they aren’t like the old ones which is why I asked if anyone had seen one. They have the changeable gullet system, while they carry the Crosby name, I’m not sure where they are made. The dressage saddles are fairly inexpensive but the jumping saddles are twice as much which I found a bit odd.
I think they were always much more popular as a jumping saddle than as a dressage saddle–the PdN is considered a classic–so maybe they think people will be more likely to spend $$ on the jumping models?
While it’s not at all surprising Weatherbeeta has brought the name back, since it has a lot of recognition, that is a LOT for an off-the-rack jumping saddle. I paid far less than that for a high quality used French saddle. The price point on the dressage saddles looks much more comparable to a starter level Toulouse/Ovation type, which seems like where the jump saddles should be too.
