Cross country boots

I would like some opinions on cross country boots for my horse. I’ve had 2 pairs of Majik Equipe and they have both looked bad in very short order, fraying, edging coming off and now cracking. Any recommendations?

We just had a friend whose horse had a studding injury XC thru Majik Equipe hind boots. Went right thru the boot. I don’t know, maybe that can happen to any XC boot with enough force. I like the Dahmer front boots and Premier hind boots.

I have Dalmar fronts and Premier Equine hinds. The Dalmar fronts are nice and don’t spin/hold water/get hot/rub. The Dalmar hinds are awful with metal loops and such, not a fan. The Premier Equine hinds are even nicer than my Dalmar fronts. Light, plenty of ventilation, no spinning/sagging/rubbing. The only downside is my horse for whatever reason hates them. They do run large, my horse is a 16.2hh OTTB and size L is almost too big for him. I would get M if I was ordering them again.

If I had to pick Dalmar vs Premier, I’d go Premier all around.

If your horse is fussy about hind boots like mine, he’s happy in really cheap Woof boots. Wouldn’t recommend for UL because they’re just basic brushing boots, but for LL they’re fine.

My Majyk Equipe boots got really ratty really fast, so I bought some of the Premier Equine boots and now only use the Majyk Equipe’s for schooling. I bought M Premiers for my 16.2hh OTTB and they’re just right. If you keep an eye out, the Premier UK website has rotating 20% off sales that make them very affordable, especially if you can find a stacking coupon.

I use the Woof Wear Smart Event boots both front and hind and they’ve been great; however we compete at lower levels and the boots only get around 10 uses per year. They have permanently scuffed on the hard shell, but it’s not very noticeable and I really appreciate the impact protection that the lightweight shell provides.

Loving my Mr. Stockings boots. The are made and imported from Germany. These suckers do. not. move. They are more heavily advertised to the Combined Driving world, but they are great. https://mr-stockingsusa.com/

I love my Premier Equine! My sensitive darling loves them and has no issues with them rubbing or spinning! I will be getting my second set for the new baby very soon! I have heard good things about woof wear if you want another option.

I love the Premier Equine. They run large. In particular they are long. My trainer has used my set on her horse. He normally takes L dressage boots on the front and XL on the hind. He is wearing Mediums on both front and hind in the PEs.

My OTTB is 16.1 H. Medium front and small hind. The medium hinds were too long.

I had a pair of Dalmar hinds and they rubbed my Arab cross. The reason my trainer has tried my PEs is the Dalmars she had rubbed her horse.

I use the LeMieux stealths. They use to be pretty cheap but I think they’ve gotten pricier since LeMieux has gotten trendy. Usually cheaper ordering from UK, even with shipping, since the exchange rate is so good right now.

I love my Boogaloos! https://www.facebook.com/boogalooboots/ I have pairs that are over 12 years old…still amazing. Easy to clean and care for, never had anything rip them.

Also had a set of PEIs for about 6 years, also great boots. They would be my top two choices, ME boots seem to falla part to me and I hate the material. Dalmars I have seen shatter and just recently seen them rub the skin right off a horse.

So because of this thread I went to order the Premier boots. Smart pak sells them but for a full set you’re looking at $180!! If you order direct from premier equine for a full set it’s only $89 bucks. Perhaps I’ll have to wait a while to get them but to save a hundred bucks it’s worth it to me!

Prolite or Style

I like the NEW boots…very light and no rubs on sensitive skin. And half price if you order from the UK.

My NEW are about 12 years old and going strong and same for my prolites. I also have a set of Ecogold and they look great still after 5 years of use. None get used daily they are only used on a XC course for schooling or competitions.

Hate Dalmar and Premier Equine because of the tendon guards. They need to be flexible and shatterproof.

I have not evented since my old horse retired years ago, but I have always loved the NEW boots. My favorites are the lightweight ones.
