Hi, I did a seach but didnt see what I was looking for. I think I am getting the eventing bug. Does anyone have any suggestions for cross country course locations to school at in south east virginia? Thanks!
VHT x/c schooling day and starter horse trials
VHT will have a cross country schooling day on March 26th, followed by a starter trials on March 27th. Both are held at the Virginia Horse Center here in Lexington.
There are a couple of places near Richmond that have cross country courses…and I recently saw of a horse trials being held in Suffolk, VA (a place called Lionheart…I think). Also, check with local Pony Clubs…they will definitely know where to school and find places to show!
Deep run Hunt Club has a good xc course for intro-training…just outside richmond…they have a couple open schooling days during the year and the pony club puts on a nice schooling HT in April
I also really like Grayson Farm for schooling- lots of lower level stuff and a few bigger things. They’re more Charlottesville/Scottsville though. http://www.graysonfarm.net/
Bump Any changes to this in the last 4 years? Also, is there a ship-in group/way to make XC schooling buddies to go with?
Currently Epps Farm Supply is the only place in the area that has a lot of XC jumps. Do look up Tidewater Eventers Group on facebook.
VHT starter trials at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington Sunday, Aug. 30th, x/c schooling day Saturday, Aug. 29th
Oakdale Equestrian Center has some different XC schooling jumps: (water complex, bank jumps, tables, benches, coops, logs…) They have recently put in an all weather show jumping ring and dressage ring.
They have also had some fun shows for dressage, show jumping and CT.
I was just at Oakdale. They have a lot of cc jumps. Some of everything. A good place to school.
