The person who started this movement was our own majanick
She brought her show horse in to New Bolton and through all the testing he turned out to have EDM. (Equine degenerative myeloencephalopathy)
Now not many people are as aware of EDM, as they are of EPM.
Her story is here: http://read.uberflip.com/i/1089065-m…18-2019/33?m4=
Through this life experience she has started a movement to have a vet speak at various bigger shows on the show circuit and start to educate folks on the differences between neurologic diseases and lameness issues, as the two can sometimes be confused.
TODAY there will be a LIVE VIDEO FEED of the first of these such clinics at the Hampton Classic horse show.
I am HIGHLY suggesting that you all watch if you can spare the time. It should start around 4-4:30p eastern time after the last horse in the Grand Prix Ring goes.
Here’s the Link to the Live Feed: http://www.hamptonclassic.com/grand-prix-livestream
I cannot explain how much this education can do in terms of saving educated riders going forward from buying the wrong horse or from being injured on horses that are in fact undiagnosed neurologic horses. This is NOT discipline specific. ANY horse doing any job could be neurologic.
Please have a look if you can.
