I posted this in Western first but with so few replies, I hope you folks can help, please. The most important thing is to find a quality program with happy horses and clients; tack options are just that - options.
A friend has a tall teen son who is very eager for some riding lessons; they live in Castro Valley. Mom might join son in lessons - she rode as a teen on the Peninsula. Both prefer western, but could be open to english if a better option exists.
I told her about Bay Area Equestrian Network but would love some help from locals to point at (or away from) specific barns/programs.
