I had one dealing with her on a horse I was looking at. She claimed her horses are 100% sound with a return of the $500 deposit if the PPE didn’t go well. I scheduled the PPE and asked the vet to call me if they found anything and I’d give a yea or nay on going forward. Get a call and they said the horse was totally messed up in the right hind. A 4 out of 4 on the flexions. I think she had the horse on bute or other pain med the day I went to see him. She did give me the deposit back though. A few days later I saw the horse advertised again with the added text that there was a recent PPE done on him.

I have dealt with her and I agree with you.

Hello there,

Is it possible to share which horse you had vetted? I haven’t don’t $500 deposits in years, which suggests that perhaps the case you are speaking of was a long time ago.

I am so glad to hear that you did your due diligence and had a ppe done. It would be fantastic if you could share those results. I am also happy to see I refunded your deposit as I had agreed upon doing. Showing my integrity in honoring our agreement.

Any good horseman knows that we do PPE’s as a fact finding mission. You just never know what you may find.

Anyway, since you are brave enough to slander me without proof. Why don’t you leave your name to allow me an opportunity to tell my side of the story.

Though I can 1000% guarantee the horse you looked at was never buted.

Shadow came to me as a completely unstarted and barely halter broke young TB. In the time he was with me he was going well for a three year old.

The claims of me being lazy is almost laughable.

You did ask me to push your horse and have him jumping courses and started on flying changes. Which I made it very clear on many occasions that I wouldn’t do to such a young horse. That if you wanted that done, you would need to send him elsewhere.

As far as the claim to him being here for 6 months and not knowing anything…. I think you are failing to mentioned I saved his life. When he showed colic signs I rushed him in the middle of the night to Oakhurst which is a 70 mile drive one way. I spent many hours with him there. At no time was I compensated for my time or effort.

After is was found out he had a very rare and life threatening condition. It was recommended he go to OSU. I spent hours on the phone with you and helping you navigate the stressful time. I spent all night sitting at OSU being there for Shadow.

When you couldn’t go see him at the hospital. I went instead. I stayed with him for hours, and fought for you to not put him down.

When he returned to my place, I cared for him. I doctored him and I rehabilitated him for you.

I went out of my way to care and manage your horses. Even though the bills would go unpaid for several months at a time.

I am happy to hear that both Shadow and Liam have found new homes. I wish I knew what happened to Shadows mom and the foal you had by Rapscallion.

I have plenty of pictures and videos of these horses if anyone really wanted to see my side of the story.

However, it seems you are all very happy hiding behind your computer screens and telling only half truths.

This post is from 2016. I still feel the need to reply.

You are correct for ANYONE buying ANY HORSE at ANY TIME. You should 100% have a professional or capable rider/horseman helping you buy a horse.

You should also get a PPE. These are all COMMON PRACTICES. These practices are smart no matter WHERE you are buying your horse from.

You are right, I do have very nice horses. I have worked hard for many years to create a wonderful sales program.

I have many many many happy buyers all over the US and Canada that will happily tell people who much they love there horse they brought from me.

I will even say that now in 2023 over 80% of my clients buy off videos and ship out of state. I have not had a single complaint in many many years.

The way these posts are written as if I am hiding in the shadows lurking around corners, waiting to take advantage of all you ladies.

I agree, I have a very strong personality that doesn’t mesh well with some people. I have made my piece with that.

However, I work very hard to provide a safe place for my students and clients to grow and learn. I have many clients that have been in my program for 10 plus years.

I have provided safe learning spaces, a shoulder to cry on, and helped my clients make tough calls and been there friend when they needed it,

I am not the same person I was when this thread started in 2015. I have grown as a person and a trainer.

I am an open book. I am always happy to answer questions, comments or concerns. I have so many happy references I can’t even count them.

I truly wish you all the happiness in the world.

Crysta Awtry has sold two horses for me in the past three years. Both horses needed some training and conditioning before they were ready to sell. She kept me updated with pictures and videos weekly so I could watch their progress. It’s very important to me that my horses only go to good homes. Crysta communicated with me about prospective buyers, and I felt confident that both horses went to good homes where they were well loved and cared for. She has kept me apprised with updates from the new owners so I can see the horse are happy and healthy. I was so impressed with her as a trainer and horseman that I brought my new horse to train with her last year. I only planned to stay a few months but I’m so pleased with the progress my horse and I have been making that we are still with her a year later. I’ve worked with a lot of trainers over the years but Crysta is the best. That’s why I drive almost 3 hours round trip 1 to 3 times a week to train with her. I highly recommend Crysta!

Hello there, Crysta Awtry here-

The difficulty of running a sale barn, and selling horses for other people is that we can only be as honest as out clients are with us. I do my best to present the most honest account of each horse I can provide.

However, if the owner of the horse is misleading, withhold or exaggerates things about a horse I can not speak for their dishonesty.

I can say that in a situation where the correct information comes to light on a sale horse. I quickly make the appropriate changes to the ad. In some cases, the horse has been so grossly misrepresented to me that I have made the choice to take the horse off the market and return them to their owner.

Implying that I am being sinister is just unneeded and frankly a strong use of biased opinion.

I am always an open book. Feel free at anytime to direct questions you might have to me. I am very easy to find online.
