Can anyone recommend a vet near Culpepper, VA to do a pre-purchase exam on a coming 3yo? Thanks.

Can’t go wrong with Virginia Equine Imaging in Middleburg
There are several. I am a big fan of Piedmont Equine in Marshall. And Jeff Beshear is also in that area.
I’d second Piedmont or Blue Ridge Equine in Earlysville. Depends on what you mean by culpeper.
VEI
I have used VEI and McCormack from Middleburg Equine for PPEs- both very good
Depends on what kind of vetting you want and how much you really want the horse.
If the horse is a candidate for /* and/or Olympics, then take him to VEI where you will spend thousands and they will find every nitpicking thing “wrong” with him, thus freaking you out and convincing you that this horse is going to fall over right out of the trailer, after having sprung a tendon on the trailer ride home.
If you want the horse for LL stuff, hunting, etc, then their are a myriad of vet options around that can get the job done. Dr. Massey et al at Rose Hill in Washington, VA serves the Peper and they have the imaging tools, etc, to make sure his navicular are up to snuff, etc.
Piedmont is good too. Alexis Theiss DVM there can get the job done for you.
Todd Burdick is excellent as well. You can also take the horse down to Blue Ridge Equine.
:lol::lol::lol:
Mind you, I adore Dr. Allen, but you kind of have a point. When he declared my older horse “sound on all four” his assistant looked at him like he’d grown a second head. “I’ve NEVER heard him say that!”
That has not been my experience at VEI, but Dr Allen only did one of mine :). Dr Johns did the other and was quite practical about what she saw and how it related to what I planned to do
Ha Ha. I think highly of Dr A too …. But there is a reason that he is known as “Dr. Doom & Gloom.”
Thanks, everyone! The horse is bred to jump, so I’m hoping for /* and PSG in the sandbox (for when I get too old or chicken to keep running xc). I basically need to make sure that he has all four legs and no signs of major trauma or gross conformational defects not obvious in the photos and video (the breeder has an excellent reputation, however).
