Curlin's Bit

What is it? Scourier? Springsteen? Something else? He was fussing so in the winner’s circle that I didn’t get a good look, but it wasn’t something I’ve seen a lot.

thanks.

This one?

Looks like a snaffle with a chiffney?!?

Nope. This one.

Almost looks like a lugging bit to me… but I can’t really tell from the pic.

Here’s a Scourier and a Citation bit…

Hard to see from this picture but it looks like either a slide bit or an extened houghton. He always has his head cocked when he runs so that would help keep him straighter.

Looks like a run out bit…

Slightly closer shot of the bit… My guess is a run-out.

That’s a better shot. I’d definitely say some sort of run-out bit now that I can see it more clearly.

The first pic was a dexter.
The second looks like a regulator to me.

I thought the first bit looked like a Houghton, but the “ring” should be a little more square…

I think Hony has it: regulator.

thenks.

Yes, it looks like a regulator bit or even more like this one http://storesense.megawebservers.com/HS1756/Detail.bok?no=125

From this picture it looks like they have similar bits… Curlin and Lawyer Ronn.

Looks like Lawyer Ron is wearing a ring bit.

No ring on the one in the pic… I’m going with regulator.

I was responding to InVA. Thought she said it looked like Curlin and Lawyer Ron were wearing similar bits in this picture: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rockand...ses/1465748825

I noticed that when Curlin works out he tends to hold his head sideways and when he races he does not. I would think more training would fix this better than using those nasty old bits.

I think the trainer of Curlin is doing one *ell of a job with him…The horse likes, runs in & WINS in that bit…why change it with more training? You don’t fix something that ain’t broke.
