Current braiding rates and trends....

I’m just curious what rates people are seeing this winter in FL? Manes? Tails? Leave in fees? Colors? etc etc etc. It’s snowing and I want to think of show season…

You could check out braiderbooking.com for prices in various areas.

In Ocala we’re paying $55 for a mane, $30 for a braided tail, $5 for a tied in tail. Pro horses get black, grey or brown yarn. Have seen deep purple, hunter green, navy and a few other tasteful colors on our weekend horses. We had a heart charm on manes and a red pom on the pinwheel for valentines day!

As a braider that flies back and forth to Florida (I have a regular job too), nothing too new this year…$60 mane, $30 tail, $10 for a tie in. I don’t know if I would tie one in for $5, it’s actually a giant PITA to do and more time consuming than you want it to be.

As always, black, grey, and brown…but we do lots in navy, hunter, deep purple, slate grey… Sometimes lavender. In fact, I did four division ponies in slate last weekend. We typically wrap the bottoms of tail braids, except ponies, who always get pinwheels. I love a pinwheel, but a wrap is faster and easier on the hands.

No leave in fee. We’re so busy (the pro I work for has a LOT of accounts), that when the odd horse is left in we’re usually grateful for one less on the very long list.

We do love color (so much less boring for us with so many hours on the ladder), and for St Patrick’s day we do everyone in green…except our most old school particular accounts.

Thanks for the info everyone! some of it sounds super cute! I will check out the website too!
