Any one know where to get custom sized fly masks? I have an unusual beast that is getting bug bites. Plot twist, it’s a dog:
They make dog mesh masks but they are built for drop ears, or cover the dog’s mouth. He is actively showing so I don’t want his ears smooshed down plus I have to shave down the inside. The bugs here in NC have been ridiculous.
Even the smaller mini ear masks appear too big. He measures 11" from poll to snoot, and 17" around his head at widest part.
Any ideas?
Maybe one the crochet style fly bonnets would work.
Contact Jammie at Equi-Prism. They don’t do fly masks, but they do bonnets and fly boots, so they have the materials and machines.
Bonus: she is in NC and is wonderful to work with.
Not sure how I would keep it on with no velcro or bridle?
I think the ideal material would be the mesh like the Cashel quiet ride ones.

They usually have a tie that goes under the throatlatch. You could easily add a piece of elastic with some Velcro.
Brainstorming…how about a field guard? Then customize it by buying an eared horse fly mask or ear bonnet, and having its ear cones sewn onto the dog’s field guard. I am not sure how to handle nose covering portion, though.
Yeah, I think it’s gonna come down to modifying either that one for dogs or the Cashel quiet ride. Probably start with Cashel as it is 1/2 the price.
