So I rode in a Custom Santa Cruz and loved it except for the back part of the seat cupping/digging into the area beside my seat bones…never experienced that before and I have been in a lot of saddles. But the low rise pommel and flat seat area were perfect. The Laguna looks similar in pommel/flat spot but can’t tell if the seat in back would be the same… the closest rep to me just says they don’t make them anymore. The rest of the models I have tried…Echo, Flight, Coda, Coronado, Solo, and Eclipse all are impossible with the high pommel. Anyone know if the Laguna seat is wider? Less cuppy in back?
It is for sure less cuppy than the Santa Cruz. Not sure if it is wider in the seat than the Santa cruz. I have a Laguna in stock and will try to remember to take a picture of the seat for you.
I had a Custom Laguna. I loved it! It fit my horses with flatter backs quite well. I didn’t feel like it had a super high pommel however it was considered a deep seat. I still have photos of when I sold it and also have photos of me in it for reference.
Sheltona01…I sent you an email! Thanks my chestnut valentine…I did many comparisons of every photo I could find of Laguna and Santa Cruz it’s just so hard to judge, I would never have guessed the Santa Cruz has that edge from the photo before I tried it. And another that I saw is a half seat size smaller but has a steeper pommel which won’t work.
Just for info, the cupping feeling is probably you can feel the edge of the bellies coming up. The bellies fill in the space between the rails and the cantle plate.
