Cute moment on a trail ride

On a pleasure ride this weekend, there was a 4-yo girl who rode the short loop (7 miles), steering by herself (well, her horse was probably just following her mom and mom’s friend on their horses, but she was holding the reins and wasn’t being ponied) on her “knew his job” horse. Really sweet, and the little girl was proud to be out with the grown ups. She was pretty much parked in the middle of a western-type saddle, which for her, on a horse-sized horse, was probably like sitting on the floor, in terms of how wide and flat it was for a 4-yo rider.

Just kind of a sweet thing. May the kid continue to love horses and always be able to comfortably have them in her life, and may we all take care of our babysitter horses, as they have taken care of us and ours.

That’s great. A horse like that is worth millions in my book.

Cute, I got cute (yeah, I post this one every chance I get):

What a great clip ! Those ponies are to die for and the kids ride so well . Makes me want to go out and get a pony.

A good kids horse or pony are a lifetime keeper for sure.

I had one of those horses:

I saw that horse too  I am pretty sure it was a mare, though.

That was an awesome ride and I want to ride there again

That’s how my horse finished his working days, taking little girls from their first rides to their first shows as the best walk-trot horse ever.

I never worried about him after I sold him. He was such a good kids horse that people lined up to take him and everyone looked out for him. Ended his days as a pet for the handicapped sister of the last girl he took to shows.

I love photos of kids having a good time with their babysitters!
