Czech dressage horses

A friend is shopping for a baby and casually considered an import. Czech hunter/jumpers are a thing - does anyone have leads for Czech dressage horses? Pros and cons of shopping there?

What could she expect to get for $30k? Add in import and you’re at 45k, and she’s finding that gets you a 4-5 yr old schooling 1st and maybe some 2nd in CA.

Shop outside of CA. Prices there are stupid.

You’re in No. Cal right? You might want to reach out to Petra Beltran of White Horse dressage. She’s from Czech Rep. She doesn’t actively import, but may have contacts.

It’s the usual story: shop in the US where horses are spread far apart and quality low/prices high, or go to Europe with a high concentration of good horses.

I’m looking for an eventer too and so tired of flying to x city for a weekend and spending $1000 to see three horses.

Oh yes - I think she knows of her :encouragement:

Not sure if this is useful but Lehua Custer’s former GP horse is for sale for $45K, should vet clean too. Is on WB Sales under Winter’s Star I think, selling out of Agua Dulce.

At the barn where I board one of the boarders purchased a 1.10m jumper from CR off of a video. The horse was perfect for the rider and they still own today. If there was a negative, the horse lacked some of the training promised but had such a good temperament it was not a problem.

At the moment you can’t come here due to the virus. The country is back in lockdown untill at least 10 Jan.

That being said, there are a few nice dressage horses. If I can make a general statement, I will say that by and large Czechs don’t mind spooks and bucks, which may put many people off.
