Wahoo-Waa!
Underthebridge is going to have a super time!
BigBayTb, I love your skull and crossbones flask. Just pick a tiara with black diamonds to go with the white. You always have been a fashion maven!

CarrieK,
BigBayTb is hopefully coming for the Nov hunt. She is the magician of the original tiaras and lemoncello. I’m going to have fun watching the action, when you meet.
I’ve asked to officially be included on the November list. These ladies have nothing on us!
So remember the “c’s:” CarrieK and Chocovine.
Yaaayyy!!
Lets hear it for puffy pants! And chocovine!! Hey I have a friend who makes wine in his basement and he always brings chocolate port wine for our basset hunts stirrup cups…yummmm!! Carrie K would love it!..
And if anyone needs a place to stay for either weekend; there’s room at Chez Wateryglen too! Just contact me !!
The only thing is our penchant for things like…earthquakes, hurricanes and locust plagues…just thought you oughta know…oh…and btw…quakes don’t spook horses but DO spook bassets. This I know!!
Dahhhlings, the pattern for the puffy pants has arrived. I might break a nail, or I might spill some liquid sewing-courage into this very odd little sewing machine, or I might self-medicate with chocolate, but :: rising, raising a fist to the Heavens ::
Are you going to model the puffy pants on a horse, too? I hope we get to see you and them in person, during the hunting festivities…
That is absolutely my plan.
I don’t know if I’m riding yet–I’m so rusty and so, erm, fluffy–but I do plan on dressing the part (I think the kids nowadays call that “being a poseur”) whether on two legs or four.
Where there is a will, there’s a way
You can always ride with us the 1st 2 days of the foxhunting clinic, even if you decide to car- follow on Sat.
Remember that Hunter’s Rest has a huge gray draft cross who will make your “Fluffyness” look petite.
Then there always is the photo-shop and other pro photographer magic that Hunter’s Rest knows.

Remus made me look short, but not really un-fluffy.
CarrieK,
That so-called chauffeur is an imposter!
He should be out of the car and holding the door for the Young Lady. I think am going to have vapors…
The idea of such poor form! Tsk, tsk!
This sounds like it would be great fun, and I feel like I am missing out by not attending.
Begin sad pouty face.

Oh, dear, no, no, please let me explain. The fault is entirely mine. You see, we were leaving the stables in search of more liquid refreshment and then I saw the ladies and jumped out of the car–yes, it was moving, but slowly–to see if they needed their flasks refilled.
Alas, my chauffeur is not as versatile as my social secretary/polo player/foot masseuse…
Love it!
Yup! Puffy pants are now officially Hunting Princess attire! Now…where we gonna git some!!!
Oh…and I look like that…specially the “far away look” of royalty!!
HP Wateryglen gratefully thanks CarrieK for giving us pictures that truly explains what we’re up to here! Windows into our minds…hmmmmm…
scarey…
I have a sewing pattern for puffy pants, and was merely waiting for the payche–erm, the interest statement on my many investments to come in so I can purchase the fabric and sew–hire a tailor.
Almost there!
We’re only a few days away now! Weather has 40% chance of showers so far for thursday but saturday gonna be sunny & 70’ish!
I’m gonna be car following after all…the Hunting Princess mobile has room if you wanna come! But you have to bring coffee & donuts for the driver! Well…any food will do really!
Looks like we’re all gonna eat well that weekend really!
Anybody wanna come foot hunting with the Ashland Bassets on Sunday at 2pm?!! Come one, come all!!
Ran into our first bee swarm on saturday out hunting so just thought I’d warn ya it’s that time of year!! …I’m hunting with a fly whisk for swooshing about and wiping them off me & the pony.
wooooo hooooooo. The ODH hounds are doing super!
What do you do for the bee stings? Any other advice?
I try to carry benedryl packets for my own stings. Any better ideas?
I have noticed that the first 3 horses get through before the yellow jacket hornets/bees launch the attack. Lord help you if the horse in front of you doesn’t pick up his feet and hits a log on the ground. It is worse by the streams, I think.
I’m beginning to remember why I use to wait until a couple of frosts before I really started hunting for the season. Not much fun to miss the beginning of hunting, but my old made horse was so athletic when he was stung…
We had bees when we were out the other week. A tough situation, as we were going down a narrow trail, hounds in front moving to a different covert.
Ware bees was yelled, but those in the bees were only able to trot a few strides forward, not the “get the heck out of dodge” type movement we needed to get away from the bees or make the horses feel like doing something other than behaving like a rodeo bronc.
As typical, the hounds and huntsman made it by with no trouble and the first 4 in the field were fine… The next 4-5 horses were stung… The last in the field choose to go another route.
Once bee/wasp/yellow jacket season is on, I start taking Claritin every day as a preventative (to give me some time in case I’m stung)and also carry benedryl and raniditidine with me on my horse (since I’ve yet to declare a sensitivity to yellow jackets to my MD/have it on my insurance records). I guess I should be carrying an Epi Pen but…
The claritin is a good idea.
I have an epi pen and children’s chewable benydryl that I have in a leather case that also fits my cell phone. It fits on my belt and I take it with me e every where. I also alert the field master and someone else in the field.
