Daily Diamond, anyone?

Anyone have experience with this lovely stallion’s offspring? I have my mare booked to him for next year :slight_smile:

Turns out he’s standing at Ashland Farms, near me just outside of Ottawa, next year so I will go see him in person once he’s out of quarantine.

I booked a mare to him as well. Would love to hear your impressions of him after you see him in person.

Sure! I’d be happy to :slight_smile:

This will likely be my mare’s last foal and will be a keeper

Same for me! Mine is an older mare that I’d like one more keeper foal from.

So I went to visit Daily Diamond a few days ago. His temperament is a 10 out of 10…what a sweet boy. Went in the stall with him and he was very friendly. Beautiful head, kind eye. Nice bone but not too thick. Can’t really fault much on him conformation-wise either. I will try to go out to see him again in the summer and see him under saddle.

Ugh…well my mare’s biopsy came back as a II B so I won’t be breeding her. I’m not prepared to put her through intensive management needed to ‘maybe’ get a foal. She’s had 5 already with previous owners. She isn’t a fan of shots, nor is she a fan of ultrasounds so I don’t want to put her through it all for naught.

She’s a star under saddle though, so we’ll stick to that and maybe look into ET in a few years.

I originally had a contract breeding to Milo B, but by the time my mare foaled out and was past her foal het, I was told he had sustained a pasture injury and wouldn’t be returning to stud duties this season… so I ended up with a breeding to Daily Diamond and I am THRILLED - definitely felt like a bit of a glow up on my contract, haha. I adore how he’s put together and really like all of his offspring I’ve seen so far.

Had I known he was being brought to Ashland prior to booking Milo I would have gone with him first for my Feiner Stern mare. She checked in foal about a month a go and we’re 41 days along with 300 to go, but I can’t wait to see this cross and his other NA offspring next year.

@anddressage That’s amazing!

I was going to wait before posting this…but I will know on Monday (July 14th) if my mare is in foal to him. I decided to go for it and send her to Ashland to be bred. I told Daily Diamond he had a job to do and gave him a pat. Here’s hoping he listened to me haha.

Oh super exciting! Fingers crossed for a positive pregnancy check on Monday. I am sure he got the memo. We shipped down to TX and had a pregnancy first go (my mare is older, too) so I bet getting it right on site will do the trick!

I love that you have been able to meet him and confirm his personality. I’ve got another mare (half sibling to my Feiner Stern mare) being bred to him on Saturday.

Oh my gosh, well here’s hoping you have 2 little DD’s next year! If I see him showing or if I go back to Ashland for whatever reason, I would be happy to take a little video clip of him for you.

Keep me posted and I will hopefully have a good update on Monday :slight_smile: :sweat_smile:

Good news! Reyna checked 18 days in foal this morning! Can’t wait to meet this foal :smiley:
