I was at WEF all winter and noticed multiple people showing in jumper classes in dark colored breeches, I think I saw both black and navy. One very well known rider showed in dark colored breeches in a money class. Is this a new trend or have I just been living under a rock? I was taught always tan for showing (or white if it’s classic day).
There are several levels of jumper attire: formal, proper, and standard. Standard allows for any color of breeches and coats aren’t required. See USEF rule JP 111.9. https://www.usef.org/forms-pubs/zDZXGvqBOTk/jp-jumper-division
If it’s Lorenzo de Luca you’re thinking of, he is wearing his military attire, which is always appropriate.
No, not him, and I’m aware military attire can be worn. I have seen that before but apparently I haven’t noticed darker colored breeches until now.
