Dartmoor pony help!

I purchased an 11.2 hand chunky bay Dartmoor pony mare - no markings. She is about 13 years old according to her teeth but her Coggins says 11. She was supposed to be registered and since I sorta’ knew the seller I trusted her to send the papers (she told me that they were at the vet’s with a plausible story).
Never got the papers and can’t get any response from the seller. DNA testing has proven that the pony IS a full-blooded Dartmoor but no one can find out exactly WHO she is.

Sooooooo… does anyone possibly know this pony? I was told her name was “Rap to the Beat” and that she was from the Rhapsody line. However, there IS no Rhapsody line that anyone knows of in the US. I was also told that the pony was shown a good bit by her owner and from the way Beatrix rides and drives I can certainly believe it. Her owner supposedly died and the pony was purchased from the woman’s children - who knew nothing about horses. While I bought her in NC it’s possible she is from SC or GA… or anywhere else!

If any of you knew a lovely Dartmoor pony mare in the past who could possibly be THIS mare I’d appreciate whatever information you could provide. Beatrix (the name we call her) was bred to a Welsh stallion and had a foal last year. It is also obvious that she has been bred more than once so I’m hoping someone will recognize her.

TIA

Contact Muffy Seaton. She drove/competed Dartmores. She might know your mare.

Could she be a UK import?

Isn’t there that gal near Lexington, KY that has them and breeds. I think her name is Leslie and her last name starts with a B I think.

You might want to contact Tracy Morgan, to talk about Dartmoors. She has done very well with them in the past, had a number of them go thru her hands when she was seriously competing in pony Pairs.

She has a Driving business and you should be able to get in touch with her thru there.

Sorry CDE Driver, Leslie Bebensee has Gotland ponies.

Susan Deutermann would know who your pony is if anyone would. Her website is singletreedartmoors.com (designed by ME  )

Tracey Morgan also has Dartmoors.
Tracey Higgins runs theharnessroom.com

Oh darn! I was sort of close though!

I know both Sue Deuterman and Muffy Seaton. Both have tried to help as has Dr. Graves via the DNA. Thanks to someone on COTH this information has been shared we have identified the pony. She’s a bit older than we were told (my horse dentist had it right!) but she’s a lovely example of the breed and a great pony for my 2-1/2 year old granddaughter.

Thanks to all of you for your help

Thanks for fixing that information! This is not the first time I have used the wrong last name for these ladies. They are NOT interchangable.

Glad to hear you have an identity for the mare now.

So…who is the pony?

Yeah, come on !

I can’t give you her story right now - and probably won’t as it’s not all good. But once we get things all straightened out I’ll let you know who she is, OK? Suffice it to say she is a VERY well-bred gal, albeit a bit older

Gotta’ love COTH! Years ago we had a filly ‘sold’ that the buyer did not pay for (she was sold on a payment plan - buyer seemed quite trustworthy). We lost contact and could not find the mare. Within hours of posting Bridget Perry had located the mare, where she was boarded and the vet who had given her shots! Amazing! We were thus able to recover her and she was sold to a much better home, eventually producing a daughter who was the dam of a successful stallion in the last 70 Day Test!!!

Fair enough…I’ll be waiting :lol::wink:

Was she on Craigslist?

Nope. She had been advertised on a horse site.

I saw a dartmoor advertised on CL a few months ago. Sat on my hands LOL
