Does anyone have any experience dealing with equine saroidosis? (also known as equine idiopathic systemic granulomatous disease). My 10 year quarterhorse gelding has been diagnosed with this autoimmune disease, and is now being treated with quite heavy doses of Prednisolon (corticosteroids) in order to try to stop the spreading of this disease, that generally has a very bad prognosis. So far it seems it is only affecting his outside, but it is a bit hard to tell. He is, besides the skin lesions, generally affected as far as lacking energy and “spark”, but it might also be the medication - anyone noticed this affect when having a horse on Prednisolon?
There is so little known about the disease since it it´s so rare, so really looking for anyone that has any input. Not ready to give up on my best friend quite yet, but would love to find anything that could help us deal with the whole thing… Or make him feel better.
