Dear Mods -- Please Fix the Web Site!

Dear Mods:

This is the 4th day in a row that I have had problems staying logged in to COTH! When I use Chrome I keep getting logged out; when I use Explorer or Firefox, no problem.

Chrome is my preferred Internet provider because of the security it affords. However, if it’s no longer going to work for me on COTH, then I will miss COTH.

Can you please fix this sudden problem? It is happening on both computers I use and it is SERIOUSLY annoying!

Thanks!

and here I was thinking it’s just me lol. I found pressing the “stay logged in” check box keeps me logged it. If I don’t do that I’ll get logged out when clicking to a different page. I’m using Chrome too.

Using Chrome here, zero issues.

This might get noticed more quickly if you put it in the help section. There appears to already be a thread about it, actually.

I log in to post, and then get told I don’t have permission because I’m not logged in.

Thought it was just me… hazing for the the new girl or something

Does the same thing sporadically in the new Firefox–v.29

If I check “keep me logged in”, it does in FF29.

Trick #1: click the Remember Me box to the right of the log in screen name. It helps.
Trick #2: write your post, then hold down the mouse and highlight it and copy it. Then if you get bounced out, you can sign back in, shoot down to the post box, paste and post it before you get shot back out again.
I have both Chrome and Internet Explorer and neither is working well with this problem.

I just complained about this on my swimming thread. I can’t stay logged in. I can’t even reply to PMs because it consistently thinks I am not logged in.

Chrome user.

Go to the forum help board and file a complaint there. When you re-log in, click the Remember Me box and that may help you stay logged on. It finally worked for me.

Chrome is not an internet provider.

The problem has already been reported, and I’m sure is in process of being fixed.

Awful demanding of a free service that costs (trust me on this one, I’m in the web development biz and know what a site like this runs for costs each month) literally nothing for the end user. Particularly since this is an issue that ranks only “moderately annoying” on the issue scale.

I am getting seriously sick of this problem! It appeared suddenly out of nowhere and so far no one seems to know why or how to fix it. Really frustrating, as COTH is the only site where it appears!

I use Chrome on my laptop and the iPhone app. I have not experienced any issues. Whatever it is, I hope you get it solved soon.

It’s not just on here, but I’ve been getting strange things happening here, and at work. All types of websites are acting funny, and hopefully whatever it is will be over soon.

no issues with Chrome here but my facebook is down for “maintenance”…

I cannot post at all using Firefox. IE 10 on the PC and Safari on the iPad work fine. Kind of a pain, as my usual modus operandi is to use Firefox for non-work related, IE for work related and the iPad only for reading. My IE has to be rock solid for work and the iPad is no fun to type on.

I use Chrome at home, IE at work (both in Windows 7), both browsers completely updated, and haven’t had a single problem.

No problems with Firefox from either my home laptop or work Imac where I use Chrome. I always have the “keep me logged in” tabbed checked, though.

I have to agree that the OP is definitely “hang wringing” very loudly. When I experience issues here, I always go to the Help page to see if it’s me or COTH and if they are on it. I generally don’t make loud demands on a separate thread. COTH is free and quite problem free overall. I appreciate that!

I use Chrome both at home, at work, and on my phone. zero issues.

the OP has an issue, and it’s not COTH’s issue.

Have those who are having issues tried clicking the “remember me” box when logging in? We’ve had long-standing issues with AOL not really logging in users even when they say they are, and they’ve had to click the “remember me” box to resolve it.

We’ve notified the tech folk of this issue to see if they have any idea of the cause.
Thanks!
