Decals/Pinstriping trailer

Has anyone replaced their pinstriping on an aluminum trailer, mine is 18 yrs old and did not appreciate someone pressure washing it.

Not much damage but I would like maybe new colors and possibly something fun, or depending on cost I may replace just the few pieces that got frayed.
Thanks

Edit: example of FUN

Replace striping with these

We removed our pin stripping from certain places on our 15 year old trailer so we could put our logo on it. We had a rubber wheel that goes on a grinder that is made for this purpose. Our lettering lady lent it to us. Perhaps you can ask the person who is going to be putting the decals on for you if they have something like this? It was really easy to do. The old striping came right off and it didn’t leave any marks. We have also used a heat gun and peeled off some old decals on one of our carriages but it’s a slow process. The rubber wheel is fast and does a great job!
Or did your pressure washer already do that job for you lol?!

Following this thread. I have this on my calendar as a project for 4th of July weekend. I was thinking of a heat gun and am curious to read about this rubber wheel on a grinder.

True! I could just wait and pressure wash again:lol:

If you want new striping, etc. good prices at www.tweetys.com

I have been told to put the new tape on top of the old one, I think I’ll do that, probably gold and black;) and stick with the same pattern.

This is probably the wheel you are talking about http://www.amazon.com/3M-Stripe-Wheel-Mandrel-Diameter/dp/B00063VT0G

That is the wheel! It works amazing. It just comes off, easy peasy.
I don’t know if I would place decals over anything else. I can’t see that working out really well…
We have also used the wheel to take off the lettering of our company trucks. No damage and done in no time. We have used it several times with no issues. Lettering and striping can be difficult to do yourself. We have a pro come and put it on for us and she even has issues with it. We just do all the removal for her and she does the rest

Thank You so much for the information, I will get the wheel and let the '“masters”
make the decision, once I told my husband about the plan he will get together with the sign guy,
I usually do my own thing because I feel hubby makes things too complicated and elaborate but you changed me:D

I am soo excited, just got brakes and the rusted lug-nuts taken care of, no air in tires even though I thought they were ok.

What I learned: if anyone has problems with the integrated trailer brakes it most probably is a trailer problem even if you have tried everything,

my trailer brakes were not broken but the ITBC knew and felt that brakes were not 100%,
then the computer takes a day to realize that things are better, I will know for sure once I start using the trailer more but it has been an interesting long journey.

My 4 Star is 18 yrs old but looks almost new, it has been an amazing trailer with lots more miles to go, thanks again!

I was thinking of doing the same thing to my older 4-star. I was thinking of having it acid washed again and wondered if I should do this before I remove the stripes or after.

I would love to change the stripe color and add a logo! It is hard to make colors stand out against the silver aluminum though.

I would love to see photos if anyone has done this.

Changing to LED lights also makes a huge difference, I did it myself, just a little time consuming.

Our trailer is a 2001 and we removed the blue and grey pinstriping in one area so we can add our logo. I of course can’t find the right picture, but here are a few to give you an idea. Our trailer is white, but the nose of it is shiney aluminum and we added our half logo there as well. We removed the Exiss logo from the nose (with the wheel) and put our logo where it was. If you look closley at the trailer, the white is faded a little on where the orginal pin stripping was, but its not too bad. The shiney aluminum looks perfect, no fading there. We also acid wash our trailer every year (makes a big difference!) and have a friend detail/wax it as it does get a “white” coating on it over time (from the sun). You notice it when we wash/pressure wash it and it almost looks like the white is coming off from the panels. I know theres a name for it (as the auto detailer told me), but I can’t remember what he said. Its normal and happens, but once it gets waxed, it looks brand new!

Sorry, the pictures arent the best, but at least you have an idea of the lettering/logo.

We also changed all of our lighting to LED’s - inside and out and they make a huge difference!
