Decent saddle stand

I have been looking for a nice saddle stand, wood that I can keep my saddle on at home.
I no longer have a horse as most of you know, and the little I do ride, well I would rather keep it at home.
Last summer I kept it at my friends barn, we did not ride much and when I picked it up in the fall it had mold.
right now it is sitting on the back of one of my couches in the unused sun room.

The back of a couch is a fine place for it, but if you want wood saddle racks, I don’t know in your area, but here Craiglist has them for sale all the time, some that people make out of discarded lumber, some of it even with fancy carving.

I would love a home made one. >I did find someone on facebook last fall, he had nice trucks and things he made, in my state as well.
I asked for one, and he said 6 weeks, I never heard back from him.
I want to get it off the couch, because Kittys like to sit on it.
It is covered but still. It already has a nice scratch in it from when a barn kitty many years ago tried to mount, before I got on!

How about looking for a kid’s rocking horse in toy stores that may work as a saddle stand?

I have seen some used that for living room decor.

Cute idea, I have a small antique shop in town, I should check there too.

If you like this one, you could possibly take this picture to some local cabinetry shop and see what they tell you they can do for you, or who does that kind of work, unless someone knows who makes and sells those:

I ended up with a quilt rack like this: http://www.cnyantiques.com/frontpage/Estate%20Sale%20-%20Reagan’s/Quilt%20Rack.JPG (mine came from a thrift store).

You might watch local equine charity auctions, too. That’s where I finally found mine.

There are some nice wooden saddle stands for sale on eBay, but you’ll have to pay shipping and will have to put it together on arrival.

I got my horse shaped saddle stand years ago from these folks. You can get one to match your horse, too. Very sturdy. I’ve had my niece up on it. Nice to have in the living room.

The link does not work. Would love to see it.
I like the quilt wrack simple and quaint. I do not want to spend a ton of money, but I do not want to settle for a ugly metal one.

Several years ago I bought a kit in a box. Easily assembled, came bare naked, no paint or stain. It is the half-round type with a brush box underneath. I also recall seeing plans on line, but then found the kit.

Not sure why. Works for me. You could try just the main site: http://www.saddlestandz.com/

They’re very nice and it looks like they sell an unfinished one for $99. The horse ones are in the $400 range…
