DeDe Bierbrauer/Windcrest Farm MD

Hi - does anyone have any experience training with DeDe Bierbrauer and/or boarding at Windcrest Farm in Clarksburg, MD? Any and all information (including care, turnout, stalls, footing, etc) welcome, feel free to PM! Thanks so much!

Think it’s the same person

LOL aout 35 years ago she was a judge at a horse trial where she predicted my death at an open ditch. We won the event and are still here.

She used to e Dede Doughrety (sp?)

I think you should go there and see for yourself…

Windcrest Farm

It would be wise to go see the facility

I kept my horse with DeDe Bierbrauer for 25 years until his death. They helped to save his life when he was six by getting him to colic surgery within twenty minutes. I have returned to Wind Crest to ride a friend’s older horse and take lessons with DeDe. Wind Crest has individual turnout and I believe this has saved horses lives by preventing paddock injuries. I highly recommend DeDe and Wind Crest Farm.

It came to my attention that a former boarder at Windcrest Farm (Clarksburg, MD) had made (correction) very derogatory comments on Chronicle of the Horse about the facility and it’s owners. I was extremely disheartened to learn of this on so many levels. I have been a client for 13 years and have nothing but positive things to say…and so does my 24 year old gelding who has had a whopping 2 vet calls in our entire tenure there! The care is outstanding, the training exceptional, and yes, ALL “fence lines” at some point need a little paint! The focus at Windcrest has always been for the good of the horse and rider. Thank you Dede & Peter for all that you do!!

You know, dragging up long forgotten threads from 2012 probably isn’t a help…

But it is usually entertaining!

Also take a look at the photos on their website to get a pretty big hint of the type of training there.

Hmm … both links work for me (but yes, this is the same page I linked to in my post).

I’m getting “Safari can’t open the page because Safari can’t establish a secure connection to the server.”

Does that mean you could get some malware if you connect that server?

That means, your safari has some issues. https is used for secure connections, used mostly for sensitive data transmission, such as banking or payments. Very strange a regular website requires https though.

Sad. Just sad, IMHO. Hand riding and rollkur. And that that picture was chosen to advertise the training there…

The only cruel thing I see is your post. Dede rides with her seat and legs. Form and function are fundamental to her. She was one of the best riders in the world.

Somebody needs to do an in-depth sociological study of the Houseguest Phenomenon. It’s fascinating that people think this works, and that nobody will find it odd that 5 new people joined COTH for the sole purpose of sticking up for a trainer nobody has ever heard of, on a thread that was like 6 years old in the first place.

Cue all the explanations of “Oh I just happened across this thread, I’m a long-time lurker” etc. I’m sure you’re not all DeDe herself, oh nooooo.

I actually was thinking we haven’t had one of these in a while so maybe it’s a regular who decided we needed some drama!

ANYONE who looks at the angle of the curb in that picture and thinks it is ok, well at least should never have a curb in their hand.

Quoting for posterity.
