Dee Ring Savers

Do you use them? I have always attached my breastplates to the dee rings of my saddles and haven’t had a problem yet (knock on wood), but would like to prevent one if possible!

If you do use them, which ones did you get? I’ve seen Kincade, EquiRoyal, Equi-Essentials, and a couple of no names at around $10, LeMieux at around $15, and Nunn Finer at $24. Is it worth it to pay more for better quality or is this one of those things in which the cheaper ones are just as good and safe? Safety and durability are a priority for me, as I don’t want one breaking mid-ride and would like to get as much use out of any tack I buy as possible.

The usual style (dee ring, leather tab, sewn to cord) are all much of a muchness. Just don’t attach them TO the dee rings like this website shows… :woman_facepalming:

Correct, like @Xanthoria said. They are all about the same, but should attach to the stirrup bar.

They actually should slip over the stirrup bars. The stirrup bars are riveted to the tree. The D-rings, or fall down staples are put though the tree then sometimes stapled into place. I am attaching photos of a tree where you can see the legs coming though and these are not even stapled. It is the legs folded over the head plate on the top third of the photo.
