is Ireland. The Irish Draught Horse is the usual suspect in heavyweight hunter classes and as they have a range of size they can be the champion of the Heavyweight Cob class, maxi cob class, and the Heavyweight Hunter all in one show. The Cob division is 15.1 and under the new Maxi Cob division is over 15.1 and the Heavyweight Hunter is over the Maxi Cobs. Usually these are Irish Draughts of traditional type with very good bone and top movement with superb canters and gallops. They are required to gallop in class and they do gallop not like the American hunters. It is a great thundering. The American shows would be very smart to begin showing all these under saddle classes again as they are loosing the majority of their hunter peeps as they decide they don’t want to jump so much any more. They go to dressage now but if they increased the range of under saddle classes they could keep these people around. Good business and fun too as it is a lot about fashion and turn out as well as a fun gallop in the ring. PatO[/QUOTE]
I have put a photo of my old heavy hunter in my profile to give you an idea of an irish show heavy hunter. He was well placed in Dublin.
