Do your Dehner paddock boots have trouble staying in your half chaps? They’re shorter than most and I read one review complaining their Dehners kept slipping out below the chap at the back of the ankle.
Is this a common issue?
Can someone measure the boot height above the heel for me please? I’d like to compare the height to my Ariats. Thanks!!
All I have ever worn are Dehner paddock boots and have never had that problem. I wear them with an Ariat half chap and have been quite happy with them both.
I have consistently ridden in stock Dehner paddocks. Mine are 6" above the sole of the boot. I also have a old pair of Ariats, which are 7". Both are broken in.
Honestly, I can’t imagine how a half chap would “gap” in the back of the Dehner. I have used two different brands of half chaps and never thought about it. The most recent brand is the Ariat all terrain (also an older version). They are not really very “shaped” as other brands, and I still do not have an issue. My other brand was Grand Prix, fancier, with elasticized leather (but way hotter for Phoenix summers). Likewise, no issue there.
I have narrow feet and NO other brand paddock boot comes close to fitting me :).
I think the trick is to get the right size half chap, so you get the right length and a tight fit on the ankle. Good luck! I highly recommend the Dehner boots for their durability and comfort.
I cannot wear tredstep side zip deluxe with dehners
I can do back zip but not side.
I wear 91/2 Dehner even talked to them about cause it is soooooooooooooooooo

Yes I have a problem with certain half chaps with Dehners
If I wear a back zip half chap no problem.
Now I will say my Dehner which are front zip , they’re is so much room in the ankle , or should I say top of boot. Not sure if this plays a factor.
The back zips that work are tredstep and ariat close contact
My side zip deluxe are plenty snug . Just doesn’t work.
Thanks sweet pea. I have tredstep deluxe chaps…looks like I’ll be going with grand prix boots instead. Not worth the risk since Beval won’t accept returns if the boot has been worn. Boo hoo.
Just to add - both of my half chaps were side zips and my boots are laceups.
I called Dehner and they suggested laced up they are taller then zips
And I also like Grand Prix boots
