If you don’t mind my asking, what brand are the boy short things? I struggle with finding comfortable underwear for breeches and am always looking for ideas!

ETA: I’ve ridden in silicone full seats only for a while now (mostly European brands like Ego 7), and one thing I can affirm is that with washing and wear the grippiness reduces significantly, to the point where they can actually become too slippery! I wash mine inside out for this reason to prevent abrasion of the silicone against other things in the machine. But it still happens with time. You can tell if you look at used ones in a consignment shop.

I have the Piper silicone full seat. Good quality breeches (not tights) and I love the grip when conditioning on hilly terrain and xc jumping, or for days I know my mare will be fresh  They have saved my hide a few times where I know that with normal breeches I would have fallen off.
I did notice that they leave little dot marks on my jumping saddle though, but they disappear when conditioning the leather.

I don’t wear them when riding dressage though, as I hate the feeling of being stuck in the saddle, but now that I’ve had them for a few months I notice they are not as sticky - just right.

I don’t need a full seat for dressage but I do have “regular” suede full seat breeches that I wear mostly in winter.

I did wear the one pair that I have from Horze on a hack this week because they have a handy phone pocket. I still hated the posting trot and still had this odd pants sticking to the saddle thing. In two point or at the walk they’re fine, and the fabric is thin as well as comfortable so I’ll keep them for my summer hacking breeches.

I’m interested in seeing if a good quality pair from Pikeur would be better. The fabric on the seat is more substantial.

Totally agree. Love the Horze, find they are the perfect level of stick. Just as good as my pikeurs. The fabric is a pretty thick but cool to the touch. Even when it is 30C+, they are still comfortable.

The waistband in the back is quite wide and sturdy (think about 3 inches and almost impossible to fold over). It is a bugger to get on, I have to do a little shimmy, but it is so comfortable that it is definitely worth the effort to not have it gape, create muffin top or otherwise be annoying. One of their pull on legging styles also has generous side pockets on both thighs, perfect for a key, cell phone or a couple of treats.

Vasserette. I probably got them at either Target or Walmart

Take a look at BuckWild breeches. I find the stick just right and the prints a lot of fun… (I have the leopard on black and the skulls on black…).

With more washing and wearing they should be less sticky. I am obsessed with the Horze silicone full seats- I have several different models and love them all. They are all I wear now that I sustained a trampling injury to my thigh and there is a giant hematoma that makes getting leather breeches on impossible.

When I first started riding, I hated full seat breeches because they made posting difficult. Fast forward years later where my horses are all pro-rides and I love my full seat pikuers.I am going to give those Horze ones a try. Seems like a lot of you are liking them.

Do a little dusty farm labor, or sit in a dirty chair before you ride if they’re too sticky. The dust seems to settle them down a bit.

I wear my breeches 2x before washing, and I’ve got a couple pairs that the first rides of the two days feels like my ass is covered in super glue. A little stall mucking and cobbing later, they ride great.

I too am obsessed with Horze. Have the Grand Prixs, in blue check and beige. 1pr Pikeur latinas. My clinic ones.

And, as a treat to self for surviving lock down I did some equine retail therapy in a way I thought was practical and not too self-indulgent. Necessary too since I only had 3-4 pairs of training breeches in whole wardrobe. I got the Horze Lucia fulll seat silicone breeches, Ivy polo top and bamboo socks, all in what they call ‘Port Wine’ burgundy. Very matchy. Very Prince. [vale]

I washed breeches before first wear, and am finding them not too sticky at all - super comfortable fit, and this brand is value for money as they last for years.

I recently got pairs of LeMieux and Kingsland full seat tights. The quality is excellent, the higher waist is flattering and the silicon is not too grippy. In contrast, for something like the Kerrits cross fit I had to wash them about 30 times before I liked the degree of grip.

Depends on the brand and how stretchy the material is. I find the more stretch the more they stick to the saddle and don’t move with you.
