Lemieux are fabulous wear like iron. I’ve also seen some nice ones from B Vertigo. The weatherbeetas haven’t held up well long run for me.
These are great. Not as ‘plush’ as the le Mieux, but hold their shape. Cheaper too.
Lemieux all the way. High cut wither held up by d-ring attachments instead of stirrup bar attachments – and wear. like. iron.
Which line of Le Mieux? Does it matter?
Lemieux!! I love their suede dressage pads! Amazing for big withered horses.
I have not tried the suede. I get the cotton ones: https://www.sstack.com/lemieux-prosp…e-pad/p/40195/
And I have one of these as well. It keeps her back cool and dry on those 90 degree 90% humidity days. https://www.sstack.com/lemieux-merin…e-pad/p/41372/
Thanks! Sounds like Le Mieux is very popular. Which non blue color would look good with a slightly lighter slightly reddish bay?
I got two Ogilvy dressage pads for my high withered big shouldered mare when I discovered the brand then I switched to a LeMieux cotton pad for the jump saddle. Saddle pads tend to rumple and slide back on my mare and I figured the LeMieux was that bit thicker or stiffer plus the D ring snaps. I like them both.
My very flashy chestnut paint goes in forest green when I can get it, navy blue otherwise. She would also look good in anything in the earth tones spectrum (I hanker after a Western saddle to put a really nice Navajo style blanket on her) but these don’t tend to be English tack colors. As you can see I have given perhaps too much thought to dressing up the red headed horse. I think you have a bit more leeway with a bay, even a bright one.
I tend to stay away from black pads because they get dusty looking and white unless I need it for competition. Ogilvy has a very conservative color range, Le Mieux has the conservative colors plus some unusual bright colors.
It really depends which colours you like, as there are so many! I like Blackcurrant.
