Denim Bootcut Riding pants?

Ariat used to make a Tek-Denim ‘jean’ that was perfect. Subtle ultra suede knee patches, a touch of lycra in cotton, normal colors. Machine washable & dry-able. They’ve lasted f.o.r.e.v.e.r… but sadly, I’ve finally worn the seats & inseam thin. I’m looking for replacements but nobody makes anything remotely the same.

The super stretchy Kerrits are like tights on steroids. Irideon colors and material look more like yoga pants. Heck anything that’s really a riding tight with belt loops sewn onto it are gawdawful. I want something that actually looks like jeans, minus the poorly placed inseam.

Anyone have any suggestions? I’m about to give them to a seamstress friend and have a couple custom re-created from the frayed pairs I can’t bring myself to toss…

I ride in Lee Riders and Lee Slimming Secrets. Very comfy with the perfect amount of stretch. They are waaaayyy cheaper than Ariats, but do not last as long.

Back in the Saddle has these Kerrits denim bootcut tights. Not sure if these are the ones that you call “super stretchy.”

I like these riding jeans, kind of pricey but very nice.

The smooth strides look really interesting. What kind of boots do you wear with them? Pants tucked in or out?

Buckwild have two great denim boot cut options, I LOVE mine, the right amount of ‘stick’ decent deep pockets, long enough…did I mention I LOVE mine!!

How about these Ovations? They are on sale (closeout?) so may be a good pair to try for the price. https://www.horseloverz.com/english-riding-apparel-clothes/breeches/denim-breeches/ovation-riders-boot-cut-jean

Me, personally? Ariat Terrains and pants out. I’m not sure you could tuck them in your boots unless you’re wearing cowboy boots or something roomy. I’m sure with a little tailoring you could “lose” the bulk below the knees so that you could sear half chaps over them, but at that price, I’m not sure I would be willing to modify them like that.

The Tek-Denim by Ariat were perfect b/c I’d wear my zip half chaps or full chaps over them. I’m not a tall boots girl.

The Ovations were perfect. Unfortunately, I haven’t fit into a 26R in 2 decades. I’m more like a size 10.

Got excited seeing the BuckWild but the price was daunting and I was TOTALLY turned off by the froofy back pockets and the cheesy looking sticky? shoes sewn on. Ugh.

The SmoothStride are okay, a bit too much $$, but I’d really like just a standing shot from the rear so I can see pocket placement. Honestly, what’s with the goofy poses? And the knee patches are too long…

Lastly, those Kerrits from Back In the Saddle are the super-stretchy tights ones I was referring to. They look like sweat pants material that will pill and bag. Plus, no but shot, the front looks like camel-toe waiting to happen, and I suspect, not pockets anywhere.

I will look at the Rider’s jeans suggested, but I really would like some knee patches.

Forgot to say thank you. I really appreciate y’all helping me find these. I know I’m super picky.
I’m just a plain jeans type of girl.

I resisted buying any of their product for ages because of price, but the quality of both product and customer service is worth the outlay for me anyway.

I can understand not liking ‘froofy’ LOL I think they are cute, but each to their own. Not sure which cheesy looking sticky shoes you are looking at…the clear silicone horse shoes that give you just a little stick, but you don’t notice in reality. Or the leopard print pocket ones? They actually look far better in real life than they do in pictures…they did worry me a little…

No I don’t work for them, but just saying that this western rider now owns 3 pairs of their English style breeches as well as 3 pairs of bootcuts…because the comfort and quality is worth it…for me…

Have you tried Ebay OP? I did a search for Ariat Tek Denim (since I’ve never heard of these before!) and found a few pairs, even new ones, on Ebay. You can also try some of the new second-hand clothing apps, like Poshmark. Sometimes I find riding clothes on there.

The Connected Rider used to carry bootcut jeans with full seats. I have a pair that I bought last year. I think they’re manufactured by Harry’s Horse (?).

The connected rider still has a lot of denim breeches as options, but no bootcuts as far as I can see:

I am just not seeing the bootcut denims as we did a few years back…Irideon made some that were nice. There are few leftover pairs at a local tack shop but I don’t think they make them anymore. I just use the Irideon Issential or cadence ones now and I do really like the Smartpak Piper bootcuts too but they are more jod-like IMO. You may try Googling denim KY jods as there may be a few options there.

Riding warehouse lists some brands not previous mentioned. I personally like Royal Highness breeches and they do have denim Euro patch

I think most people just wear bootcut jeans instead of buying denim bootcut riding pants.

So, I can probably squeeze by with bootcut jeans. But I’ve fallen in love with the design of these Ariat Tech Denims because they have NO inseam running from your crotch down both inner thighs… .only a seam outside your leg. The pockets are high enough so you’re not sitting on them in the saddle. The knee patch is smallish, more consistent with the typical knee patch (suede or ultra suede. No silicone, thankyouverymuch!) and it doesn’t run the full length of your leg. I mean, if I wanted full stickiness all the way down, I’d just opt for full seat breeches and half chaps.

These have 5 pockets and double belt loops in 5 spots around the waist.

I should probably look into patching the crotch on the 3 pair I’ve worn out. Tricky spot… either side crotch where all the material meets. I’d consider putting a patch there but I think unless I’m very strategic with material and thread, it will end up looking like a sewn-in maxi pad. Or worse, will feel like one.
