DeNiro Boot stretch and measurement

So after having no luck with off the rack boots having my size in stock I am thinking going the semi custom route. I saw that semi custom deniros ordered direct from Europe are in the same price range as mid range ariats and well below my budget (for much cooler boots!). The risk is I can’t return them if they don’t fit. SO my question is, how much do deniros stretch out? Should I be measuring pulling the tape measure pretty tight or should I have it comfortable? Also how much do they drop?

The Boots I am looking at are the Salentino and basically my calf is a hair bigger than the XL (especially if I pull the tape tight) and a hair smaller than the XXL. So should I size up or down?

For the Salentino or any of the ones with the elastic panel, you can get by with going slightly small, but they do not stretch out a lot. They measure pretty true to size with the tape snug but not pulled tight. The tighter they are the less they will drop, but they will likely drop a couple of CM.

I have 2 pairs of Deniro’s but mine don’t have the elastic panel. I didn’t pull the tape tight but I didn’t let it gap. Not sure how to explain it other then saying I took an accurate measurement of my calves. Ended up on the half cm which was no problem. Make sure you measure over breeches and socks- yes it does make a difference! I added 2 cm to allow for drop which was perfect for me.

I ordered them, since I was in the middle for calf width I sized down. It was like 80 more to do the XXL vs the XL and the XXL was having a bit gappy tape measure. I am still really nervous about them being too tight. But if I went XXL I’d be nervous about them being too loose haha. I also sized up in the height, A perfect fit would be the XC but since these are the soft material ones I was worried about drop so I went up the C and I figured I can use heel risers. I hate the too low boot look. They’re made to measure so its going to be a long wait and I’ll be nervous haha.

I have DeNiro’s and not going to lie…they don’t stretch much…i rode with mine zipped about halfway then gradually was able to zip all the way up and snap shut. They are the only boots that fit me like a glove off the rack though. Tough to break-in…get the ankle gel bands!
