Denis Lynch and Latinus - any info ?

I LOVED that pair! I am old and creaky, but have never realized until today that there isn’t an Irish Olympic team. What a disservice to those amazing Irish riders! What can anyone tell me about Denis and his lovely horse?

(Yeah, I’m an American, but hey, I’m from Boston! We’re all Irish here! :D)

The Irish showjumping team just didn’t qualify for this Olympics: http://breakingnews.iol.ie/sport/?jp=mhcwmhsnauid . They were allowed to send one individual, and Denis was choosen as their individual rider after his peformance at Aachen.
There technically IS an Irish Olympic team http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics/7499560.stm.

Lantinus’ sire, Landkonig, stands at stud in California. Landkonig’s owner is super nice and knows a ton about Lantinus; he could probably answer a lot of questions about the horse (he posts here, his name is Edgar).

Lantinus’ damsire is Argentinus.

There IS an Irish team in eventing. They finished between the USA and Canada.

Yes, they are just not very good in the mornings or afternoons.
That is the Irish drinking team we’re talking about, right?

Here is a fun interview with Denis from last week:

Lantinus has a lifetime of record setting accomplishments. Prior to the Olympics he was ranked #1 in the FEI ranking a few months this summer. He qualified as a 9 yr old with a different rider before Denis.

Here is a lot more information:

He was one of the few 1 faulters in the qualifying round, I don’t think the individuals will go again until the 21st - yuck on NBC which means they will probably only show the top 5 or 6 riders…

I don’t think the individuals will go again until the 21st

** No, the 3rd round individuals and 2nd team jumping (same round) are at it again same time Monday.

Yeah, coincidentally I was just watching his round online–he is a very focused rider. Excellent ride! Especially as you could hear a jumbo jet flying over and his horse looked like he was ready to explode. Not dissing on the horse, however—lovely horse!

Here is his round :

The online NBC results says that Denis is “officially” 4th - what does that mean? Does he get to go again? The only results I could find read “Sunday”, not today - is that because of the time zone difference?

Denis qualified and will be in the final round on Thursday
