Dentist Assistant Kitten

I had a dental appointment yesterday for a routine cleaning, and the hygienist had the neatest story she wanted to tell me. I am flagged “cats” in their records, I think.

Their office assistant’s husband bought a boat from somebody else where it had to be delivered over many, many miles. So the boat was delivered, and her husband was out washing it and admiring his new hole to throw money in, and he found a kitten. Very tiny kitten, like just a few days old. It was tucked in the bottom of the boat in a carefully hidden crevice, and it presumably had accompanied the boat in shipping. They figure a feral had had a litter there, was moving them, and the boat drove off with the last one.

So the husband gave the itty bitty thing to his wife, who is the one in the family who deals with critters. She warmed it up, got bottles and KMR, and set about all the steps. The hygienist said she brought the kitten to work with her for several weeks, of course, since it needed frequent feeding. She kept it in a box in the break room. It was all white.

Of course, I asked if the kitten was still in their break room to visit. I approve of dentist offices that have kittens in their break room. Nope, the kitten was older now and able to stay home. She did say it was growing, up to mischievous stage, and doing fine.

A neat story, although I feel a bit sorry for the feral mom who unintentionally had her maternal duties decreased by one.

Dental appointments would be a lot more fun if you got to hold a little kitten while they worked on you! :smiley_cat: (it might pose a slight problem when the drill went off and scared the kitty and they latch onto the person with the drill who then drills your face off by accident :joy:)

I agree. If you had a cat in your dental office I might go to the dentist more often.
