Dentist in PA

Can anyone recommend an equine dentist in the SE PA area (I’m in Mongtomery County)? I can’t reach the person that the vet recommended and would like to have someone come out soon. At least one horse will need to be sedated. Thanks for the help!

We use Brian Shaw who is super nice. He lives in Hellertown. We are in central Montgomery county and he said he has several customers in our area. I know he won’t sedate the horses. He said if sedation is needed he likes to schedule his visit with the next visit by the vet. Then the vet can give the horse a shot before he starts working on the teeth. I don’t have his number handy but I’m sure you can google his name and find it.

I use Howard Wray, who is very good. He also won’t sedate horses, but he is so good with them that he was able to do my one difficult horse unsedated with relatively little fuss. PM me if you want his phone number.

I recommend both Brian and Howard as well. There is also Dave Mosher in Bucks County, as well as Mark Cheshire who I believe is in West Chester.

Another thumbs up for Brian

Brian has been to our farm working along with Bill Schultz. We have been very pleased with his work and his demeanor with the horses, and are fortunate to have access to such great dentists.

Bill Schultze is very good, he’s based in NJ but has clients in SE Pa. He’s pretty booked though.

Ernest Kilby is great. Have his contact info somewhere if you need it.

I use my vet to float teeth, if I have a horse that need sedation. They use power float. Over in a few minutes.
My vet also did a tooth extractions last year on a double row of teeth my TB had (weird to see those extra front teeth).

Oh yes, I forgot about Mark Cheshire. I have used him before as well, and he was very good.

Mark Cheshire is superb. He is a true horse whisperer. He has the ability to know just how to approach a horse and interact with it in a way that the horse knows s/he is in good hands. He does not sedate unless under a vet’s supervision. He takes whatever time is necessary to make the experience a positive one.

Pat Bard he also does not sedate unless necessary and he’s great with the horses. http://www.amscheqdentistry.com/students/Detailed/651.html

Thank you for all of the input! I happen to know Brian Hephner’s wife - small world. I found out that my vet is going to do teeth again in the summer so I’m probably going to use him but I’m filing away the rest of the info, just in case.
