Depo versus regumate for a stud like gelding? Or other options?

I have a 5 year old gelding I have raised since birth.

He was gelded at 8 months old with no complications.

He has always been the alpha horse on my farm and when not in constant work he tends to get aggressive towards my older gelding and sometimes his siblings. He also can be nippy.

Right now I can only keep him turned out with his mother because she is the only one that will keep him in line.

I have heard that depo and regumate is given to geldings on occasion with great results, I would love to hear your results.

Also, would a blood test possibly help detect if his behavior could be a hormone imbalance?

I’ve had quite a few mares and I have never had one kick out at horse shows when other horses got too close. This is just plain bad behavior. I would never drug a horse to correct bad behavior, but that’s me. No doubt you will hear from plenty who do.

I would address this behavior from a training perspective and if I were unable to do so, I would find someone who could.

Edited to say that before I even addressed the training, I’d have a vet to do an eval as horses w/behavioral issues often have a physical reason for said behavior.
