Can anyone that has had either let me know what you think?
I have a couple of the Rugged Ride ones. They are reasonably waterproof but not super durable and I don’t love the fit. I think if you want a cheap option for a horse you only blanket in bad weather they are fine but I wouldn’t buy again for every day or for a horse that was tough on blankets
I have Rugged Rides for my minis and my Welsh pony. The quality is fair, the fit is wonky. They fit the narrower, refined welsh pony just “OK” but they do not fit well at all in the shoulders/chest for either stockier mini, they seem to be made skimpy in that area, I had to get creative and add a piece of material across the front to make it work. If I had gone up a size, they’d be swimming in the rest of the blanket.
I wouldn’t buy again either.
I have 2 Derby House blankets I bought last year before Ride Away closed down. One is a 100g, the other is a 200g.
The sizing is a bit wonky on them. The neck/chest areas are huge yet they don’t have much drop on the sides. But they were otherwise fine. I bought them for a growing weanling in her first winter, and she has since outgrown them. But they held up to her antics and were good enough for the price I paid (which wasn’t very much). I had intentions of handing them off to my donkey after my young horse outgrew them, but they are too big in the chest for her even though they are her size.
Not my first choice, but if you are looking for a bargain blanket they work.
