Devastated! Dream foal has Sow mouth, Help!

Some excellent philosophical points. I was thinking sort of the same thing… Young horses often bring a lot of worry, stress and even sometimes some heartbreak–real heartbreak–with them. They are inherently imperfect in so many ways. Many imperfections are long forgotten or rarely thought of once a horse has set out in its career.

I had a purebred Trakehner back in the 90s. Beautiful black w/white socks, late-gelded 3 year old that breeder had hoped would outgrow his 1/4" underbite so he could pass the stallion inspections. His underbite didn’t change, so he was gelded and sold to me for a pretty cheap price (well under $10k) for a registered WB out of an Olympic sire! One of the nicest horses I ever owned. You could not tell he had the underbite, even from profile - it was that minor. He got yearly dentals, but no special attention and his teeth never caused him problems. I sold him as a 12 year old and the vet who did the PPE for the buyer never even said anything about it. It was a non-issue!
