Devon, questions on tickets

I have not gone to Devon too often, but the times I have were during the day. I am considering going tonight (Sat., May 25). Will the ticket booth be open? Do they close at any certain hours? Will I most likely still be able to get decent seats (not too far up, bad knee, can’t do the stairs well) or just general admission. I am handicapped and do have the parking placard. I don’t really know how their handicapped seating works, though. Thanks!

Did you try calling the ticket office? (610) 688-255

Yes, I called a few times (4-5, I believe) over the past week. No answer or return phone call to my messages. Do you know what time the outside window to get tickets closes? I guess I could do general admission. Thanks so very much!

They will be selling tickets as long as the show is open and tickets aren’t sold out but I don’t know the answers to your questions about handicap accessible seats. Try calling the show now, they’re open and very well might pick up.

Will do. Thanks so very much, VXF!

Another question, how can I find who is entered in the Sapphire & Idle Dice Prixs? I looked in devonshowmanagementsystems.com and it didn’t really list the entries for those classes. Also, can I bring in small folding chairs? Is the Sapphire Prix too much of a crowd or manageable? Meaning if you don’t have seats are you generally standing three deep on the rail and not able to see that well. Thanks!

You don’t have to declare far in advance for those classes so we don’t know but you can roughly assume the big pros with a horse of that caliber who are here for other classes will enter those.

You can bring a folding chair in but that doesn’t guarantee you finding a spot to put it. During the day and hunter classes that might work. Once it get crowded that’s not going to work. They actually may disallow it for safety reasons but even if they don’t you’re going to be trampled and not be able to see well sitting on a folding chair on the ground level. And there’s no seat saving from earlier in the day either. So you can’t camp out to try to be closer to the ring on the ground.

The Grand Prix is a mob scene. You will not be able to put a folding chair down anywhere and see. It’s either seating or shoulder to shoulder standing room. If the weather is terrible it might be lighter but going in with a folding chair is a plan that might not make any sense. The other jumper classes are full but not like that.

Thanks again! Oh, I didn’t expect to park in a folding chair for the Prixs (not appropriate & unsafe, . . . ). I was more thinking about some of the other days. I’m trying to decide between two days for the hunters, Wed., May 29 (High Performance Hunters) & Thurs., May 30 ($25,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby). The Thursday Hunter Derby lists 48 horses right now. Do they all pretty much show up? The Wednesday has more classes of interest to me, however, the Thursday has the hunter Derby. Any advice on that, also? Thank you so incredibly much!

I would expect a pretty high percentage of them to show up. Unless they go lame in the meantime or have a mishap at the show earlier in the week. Because… horses. Lol.

The derby is fun. It will be more crowded but nothing like the Grand Prix. Wednesday will be light attendance, especially compared to weekend and days with big draws like arena eventing or the Grand Prix.

Thanks so very much, VFX & MHM!

One more, is there a good way to stream the show? The site they link on the Devon fb site & Clip my Horse seem not too straightforward and also end up requiring $. I don’t mind paying but I hear people are not that happy with CMH. Thanks again!

It’s live streamed on USEF Network (Clip My Horse is in charge of the feed). You need a USEF membership to watch, but even a fan membership is sufficient. Sometimes there are free codes for fan memberships.

I have a fan membership. It was getting me caught in some sort of funny loop, but it is working now. Your info did help. Thanks again!

Was there for the derby today which had 35 horses. It was great weather! Hope you enjoyed visiting. I forgot to buy GP tickets in time and I will NOT go to the GP without an actual seat, so I’ll be watching at home.

It was wonderful today, wasn’t it? What a fun class, gorgeous horses, and great venue! Did you go over to the jumper class, too? Thanks so much for your help, Phoenix & all!
